“It’s not just a day, it’s an experience. . .“
The Dayton Public Schools showcased student historical research for National History Day in Dayton. NHD, like a science fair, brings students together to share their original research projects. National History Day students investigated topics related to the theme Conflict and Compromise in History. Students compete in one of four categories: research paper, exhibit, documentary, and performance. The top projects from Dayton go on to compete in Ohio History Day in Columbus on April 26, 2008. For the last two years, Dayton Public Schools students have been selected to compete at National History Day in College Park, Maryland. Colonel White High School social studies teacher Sharon Goins received a teaching award this year. Dayton History Day is coordinated by Stivers High School for the Arts social studies teacher Bridget Federspiel The event is made possible by many dedicated teachers, students, parents, and volunteers including students in History and Education from Wright State University. Thanks as well go to the Ohio Historical Society for supporting Dayton History Day.
